Here are 10 Pakistani dramas that had their names changed and why:
1. Dil Banjaara
Writer Faiza Iftikhar titled the drama Gypsy, which she believed went along with the theme of the series. However, the production house decided to change the name to Dil Banjaara.
2. Ghustakh
The star-studded series was initially titled Shaam Se Pehle. However, later the producers realized that a drama with the same name had been aired previously. Therefore, they decided to change the title to Ghustakh to ensure the drama name doesn’t repeat.
3. Jo Tu Chahay
The drama Jo Tu Chahay went on air with the title Kun Faya Kun. However, the initial name sparked a major public outrage, compelling PEMRA to urge the producers to change the drama’s title.
4. Mann Mayal
In the early stages, the drama was titled Tera Gham aur Hum. After a while, it was changed to Dil e Janam, and later the production house finally settled on the name Mann Mayal for the drama.
5. Phaans
The popular drama Phaans was initially titled Badzaat. However, later the producers changed the title to Phaans, which appealed to the audience much more.
6. Pyaar Ke Sadqay
Chungal was the original title of the drama Pyaar Ke Sadqay. However, before the drama aired, Pyaar Ke Sadqay was finalized as the name of the drama.
7. Rabba Mainu Maaf Kareen
Producers initially titled the drama Ranjish. However, it was changed to Rabba Mainu Maaf Kareen later when the producers realized that an old PTV classic was named Ranjish.
8. Saraab
The name of this drama was set to be Jog. However, producers of the series later finalized the name Saraab as they deemed it a better fit with the storyline.
9. Zakham
When the initial teasers of the drama were released, it was titled Yaar Nah Bichray. However, when the series was aired on TV, its title had been changed to Zakham.
10. Aisi Hai Tanhai
The issue-based star-studded drama was initially titled Raqs e Bismil. However, actress Nadia Khan, who made her come back to TV with this series, suggested the name Aisi Hai Tanhai which appealed to the producers. Therefore, the name of the drama was changed to Aisi Hai Tanhai.
