Often regarded to as the ‘mountain princess’, Selena Khawaja, at the young age of 10, has become the youngest mountain climber to summit the 7000-meter high Spantik Peak.
Spantik Peak is a mountain in Spantik-Sosbun Mountains’ sub-range of the Karakoram in Nagar Valley, Gilgit Baltistan. Mountain climbing isn’t an easy job; it is without a doubt one of the hardest sports and requires a lot of strength, practice, and stamina.
When climbing a mountain, you have to fight against the mountain, gravity and often harsh climatic conditions. It takes a lot of determination, hard work and motivation to ace a summit.
After her accomplishment, Selena had a very positive message for her fellow Pakistanis.
‘’Aim high, work hard and achieve your goals’’ – she said.
Pakistanis appreciate her resilience and commitment:
Becoming a star over social media, Pakistanis extended their warmest wishes to the young girl, wishing her all the best in her upcoming endeavors.

Spantik Peak is not the only achievement she has to her name:
The young girl’s previous accomplishments include climbing Mingli Sar, which is 6050m in height, and the 5,765-meter tall Quz Sar Peak. After that, she took to Twitter to request a sponsor for climbing Spantik, her most recent success.
She doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon as her next aim is to climb the Broad Peak, 8,047 meters in height. Not only that, but she is also looking to climb the highest mountain above sea level, Mount Everest. The mountain stands at a height of 8,848 meters. Once she succeeds in this, she will become the youngest person to climb a mountain with height in 8000 meters.
Her success shows us that no dream is too big. If you want it bad enough, there is nothing you can’t do without determination, hard work, and persistence. Selena is a true inspiration to not only Pakistanis but also people around the world.
