The All-New 11th Generation Honda Civic raises excitement or brings disappointment?
While experts have a different opinion, most Pakistanis seem to have taken a liking to the smooth and pleasant new design of the new Civic.
In the automotive industry of Pakistan, the Honda Civic is a name that needs no introduction. The vehicle is one of the world’s most popular C-Segment cars, while also being considered as one of the best in the segment.
The vehicle’s 11th generation version has recently made its global debut, and Pakistanis are excited.
The auto company Honda has been known to switch the Civic between radicality and subtlety every alternate generation. Therefore, where the 10th generation Civic had aggressive styling, the 11th generation Civic is relatively subdued.
Considering that the 10th generation Civic set an incredibly high bar in terms of performance and styling for both its competitors and successors, experts doubt that the 11th generation car has something more significant to offer.
While experts have a different opinion, most Pakistanis seem to have taken a liking to the smooth and pleasant new design of the new Civic. The people believe that the 1.4-inch longer wheelbase and 0.5-inch wider track of the vehicle make it look better proportioned than its predecessor.
Powertrain and Mechanicals
The 11th generation Honda Civic is available with two engine options:
- The base powerplant is a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 158 hp and 187 Nm of torque.
- The more powerful option is a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder petrol engine that makes 180 hp and 240 nm of torque. All of that power is sent to the front wheels via a CVT automatic gearbox.
The new Civic, like the previous generations of the car, has McPherson Struts up front and a Multi-link coil-spring setup at the back. Experts state that this suspension setup might be pretty stiff, but it allows for a more controllable and engaging driving experience.
Interior and Features
Honda seems to have listened to the reviews about the previous versions of the Civic because the auto company has made considerable design improvements in the interior of the 11th generation version. Here are some of the salient features of the new vehicle’s black interior:
- Silver trim pieces that give the car a premium feel
- A 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system that features several hard controls in the base variant; the finer touring trim variant features a larger 9.0-inch touchscreen with a 10.2-inch digital Head Unit Display (HUD)
- Apple CarPlay and Android Auto with an optional larger screen that has a wireless mirroring feature
- 10 airbags
- Several driver assists
- Multiple drive modes
- Adaptive cruise
- ABS brakes with EBD and BA technology
Price and Launch in Pakistan
According to reports, the price of the new Civic will range from $20,000 (approx PKR 3 million) to $30,000 (approx PKR 4.6 million), depending on the loaded advancements of the variants. The sporty variants like the Si and the Type-R of the 11th generation Civic will be more expensive than the standard sedan variants.
Launch in Pakistan
According to reports, Honda will launch the new Civic as a sedan. Its sportier versions and the flagship Type-R version will be made available later, possibly in the hatchback form only.
Experts believe that the highly anticipated launch of the new Civic in Pakistan may take place after a year and a half or more. As per reports, the car will be launched in the European and Asian markets in late 2021 and early 2022, respectively, and is likely to be brought to the Pakistani market about six or more months after that. Only time will detail the success that the new Honda Civic derives from the Pakistani auto market.
