Imran Khan scolded and deceived the nation and decried for $200 billion stashed abroad, tweeted PML-N leader and former public office holder during the latest tenure of PML-N.

The same leader of PML-N claimed, reported by Dawn during PML-N’s tenure, that his government would start formal negotiations with the Swiss authorities (to bring back the money kept in foreign accounts by Pakistani nationals) adding that the Federal Board of Revenue will enter into negotiations with Swiss authorities without specifying any time limit to reach an agreement.

Federal Minister Hammad Azhar retorted the Iqbal’s claim and said in a witty reply: “The news of $200 billion was given by Ishaq Dar as the Finance Minister on the floor of the house, the ears of some people were closed then.”

Years ago, former finance minister of Pakistan Ishaq Dar made claims that Pakistani nationals had collected around $200 billion in Swiss accounts without declaring the source of his information. PTI Government promised the country to get rid of corruption and to recover the money illegally kept in foreign accounts for which the incumbent government has set up the Asset recovery Unit as well.

PTI Government believes that Pakistani nationals possibly stashed $11 billion, half of this money is presumed to be undeclared. As of now, FBR is making efforts to disclose the names of people who hold undeclared assets abroad and revenue authority also made claims that several thousand foreign bank accounts held by Pakistani nationals have been traced.
