3-year-old girl strangled to death in Egypt for her gold earrings
According to Masrawy, the burn marks on Jana's body revealed that the perpetrator tried to set it on fire to conceal the girl's identity.
A three-year-old girl has been strangled to death in Northern Egypt’s Dakahlia Governorate by a neighbor who kidnapped her to steal her gold earrings.
According to the Watan, Muhammad Khalil and his wife lured Jana Muhammad Salah to the roof of their house, strangled her, and then stole her gold earrings.
Muhammad hid the girl’s body in his house for three days before throwing it into a construction site.
According to Al-Masry Al-Youm, Muhammad said he did not intend to murder the girl after stealing her gold earrings.
However, he feared that the child would recognize him after returning to her home.
According to Masrawy, the burn marks on Jana’s body revealed that the perpetrator tried to set it on fire to conceal the girl’s identity.
According to Emarat Al Youm, Muhammad explained that he killed Jana due to his poor financial situation.
He said that he needed the money from the sale of her earrings to pay for his wife, who is pregnant, to deliver their baby.
According to Al-Arabiya, Muhammad had confessed to the crimes and said he needed money to provide for his children.
Both Muhammad and his wife were imprisoned on the 12th of November.
Meanwhile, investigations are being carried out related to the kidnapping, theft, and murder of Jana.
Jana’s family said she disappeared several days ago while playing with other children in the neighborhood.
Thousands from her village, Al-Rawda, in the district of Manzala, and the surrounding areas, gathered for the funeral.
