The police have arrested a 71-year-old man on the charges of “Obstruction of business”.

callsA 71-year-old man, has been arrested in Tokyo for making 24,000 complaint calls to a mobile company’s customer service center.

Talking to local media, the mobile company said  Akitoshi Okamoto, had been making frequent calls for almost two years.

According to the Japanese media, the 71-year-old accused the ‘KDDI’ mobile company of violating his contract, because his phone was not picking up radio broadcasts.

Tokyo police said that Akitoshi Okamoto called customer service either to insult the staff or to demand an apology.

The company’s spokesperson said initially, we did not want to press any charges, but the matter became so serious that we were unable to take calls from other customers. The spokesperson added, “Okamoto also repeatedly hung up the calls as soon as someone picked up”.

‘Obstruction of business’

The Japanese police have arrested Okamoto on the charges of “Obstruction of business”.

“Obstruction of business” is a charge that can be brought against people in Japan who obstruct or interfere with other’s business.

Okamoto, on the other hand, denies harassing the company and said he was the victim in the situation.
