‘880,000 educated people left Pakistan due to unemployment in the last two years’
The detailed analysis of the report clearly states that 29,312 people that moved out had significant degrees.
ISLAMABAD: As shocking as it is, educated people with respectable degrees are forced to move out of the country merely because of the employment issues and fluctuating financial situation of the country.
According to the statistics, 1,900,000 Pakistanis have been residing in foreign countries; while, an alarming number of 880,000 people in the last two years have left the country in order to have better jobs and a secure future.
As per the records of the Bureau of Immigration, in 2018, approximately 382,000; whereas, in the current fiscal year, more than 500,000 young citizens have moved out of Pakistan. Nevertheless, it was further mentioned in the reports that the majority of these people were the ones with honourable degrees.
The detailed analysis of the report clearly states that 29,312 people that moved out had significant degrees. Whilst, 17,609 people belonged to a skilful community and the remaining 69,000 were labourers.
It was further stated in the reports that in the tenure of the current government, around 10,000 engineers, 3,500 doctors, and 9,500 accountants migrated to foreign countries with an aim to seek better jobs. Similarly, 25,000 electricians, 3,000 teachers, 2,500 pharmacists, 500 nurses, and 13,000 people hailing from an agricultural background preferred moving out of the country for a well-paying job and a brighter future.
It goes without saying that Pakistan is losing its skilful people that are no less than an ‘asset,’ but sadly, it is something that our government has been neglecting.

Massive brain drain!!!
Really unfortunate! Especially when someone promises to give jobs for all those unemployed domestic and abroad.
Statistics need confirmation, nevertheless due to better opportunities Pakistanis’from all categories have been migrating abroad. Though it’s a brain drain but at same time these expatriates bring home lot of FE. What Govt need to do is to ensure that better qualified individuals occupy inland slots
