Aakash Chopra and Muhammad RizwanIn his recent video, cricketer turned commentator Aakash Chopra heaped praise on Pakistani wicket keeper batter Muhammad Rizwan. The right handed batter became the first cricketer ever to score 2000 runs in T20I cricket in a calendar year.

Chopra has always been effusive in his praise for Pakistani cricketers. Regarding Muhammad Rizwan’s milestone, the former Indian cricketer said: “What are you doing? To make more than 2000 runs in a calendar year, this has never happened before and Rizwan has done it now. Of course, Pakistan has played a lot of T20 cricket and they have done well also but give it up for Rizwan.”

Furthermore, Aakash Chopra added that Muhammad Rizwan has made batting easy for Babar Azam too as he plays aggressive cricket.

“The way he bats, he plays a selfless brand of cricket. A lot of times Babar Azam scores runs because Mohammad Rizwan is playing so well at the other end. He is a gun player.”

The 44-year-old thinks that this year belongs to Muhammad Rizwan.

The sort of season this has been, he has given himself a long rope. A player who makes 2000 runs in a year and takes the team forward, semi-final of the T20 World and scores runs in the semi-final as well despite being hospitalized, Mohammad Rizwan – this year belongs to you.”

Some of the Indian fans were not so happy with Chopra’s words of appreciation for the Pakistani cricketer. During his video, the former Indian opener also mentioned Rizwan equalling Virat Kohli’s record of joint most 50+ scores in a calendar year.

An Indian fan posted a screenshot of the cricketer turned commentator’s video and wrote: “Virat had already done this before it was famous don’t compare him with any loser ever he is the best player period.”

Replying to the Indian fan, Aakash Chopra posted a screenshot of the most runs in a calendar year. “People see what they want to see. It wasn’t a comparison with anyone. It’s a fact. Number of innings/matches irrelevant. It’s incredible that we can’t even appreciate an effort without caveats,” he replied.

Another Indian fan asked the former cricketer to move to Pakistan if he likes talking about the Pakistani cricketers.
