Oscar-winner Actor Tom Hanks And Wife Rita Wilson Test Positive For Coronavirus
In a statement, Nine Network said that the staff of the show will be quarantined after coming in ‘prolonged contact’ with the couple.
Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks, along with his wife Rita Wilson, took to Instagram to tell their followers that the couple has tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19). While filming in Australia, Tom and Rita experienced notable symptoms and decided to get themselves screened.
“Rita and I are down here in Australia. We felt a bit tired like we had colds, and some body aches. Rita had some chills that came and went. Slight fevers too. To play things right, as is needed in the world right now, we were tested for the Coronavirus, and were found to be positive’’, the actor wrote on Instagram
“Well, now. What to do next?” he continued. “The Medical Officials have protocols that must be followed. We Hanks’ will be tested, observed, and isolated for as long as is needed by public health and safety requirements. Not much more to it than a one-day-at-a-time approach, no? We’ll keep the world posted and updated. Take care of yourselves!” he added.
The Academy Award-winning actor is currently at the Gold Coast in Queensland, filming Baz Luhrmann’s untitled project about Elvis Presley. After the diagnosis, the couple has been put in isolation at the Gold Coast hospital.
In a statement, Nine Network said that the staff of the show would be quarantined as well because of their ‘prolonged contact’ with the couple.
“Our premises are currently being thoroughly cleaned in all areas she visited and we are encouraging our employees to monitor their health and practice good hygiene”, the network said.
During his time in Australia, Hanks had been regularly interacting with fans, taking photos with them at Coolangatta Beach and a café near Mount Warning.
