An Afghan girl, Qamar Gul, aged between 14 to 16, took the law in her own hands and shot down two Taliban militants who killed her parents and wounded several others with the family’s AK-47 rifle.

The girl lived with her parents in the village of Griwa. The militants forcefully entered their home and captured the girl’s parents because they supported the government.

The militants mercilessly dragged Qamar’s father and mother out of their house and murdered them.

After the incident, more militants came to attack the house, but this time the villagers and the government troops joined hands and fought them off.

Mohamed Aref Aber, a spokesman for the provincial governor, told AFP that:

The security forces shifted Qamar Gul and her younger brother to a safe place.

Soon after, the photos of Qamar Gul and the account of her bravery went viral on social media. People took to different social media platforms to praise her for her courage.
