After General Bajwa, DG ISI also issues ‘strict’ orders to his subordinates
After Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa, Director General (DG) Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Nadeem Anjum has also issued strict directions to officials of the spy agency.
According to local media reports, DG ISI has directed his subordinates to stay away from every sort of activity involving politics and politicians. The order from the country’s spymaster has come a day after General Bajwa issued similar order to officials of the military, including those from ISI.
“They have been told in the strictest terms to stay away from politics and avoid any such activity,”stated the sources. DG ISI has made it clear that those found violating his order will have no place in the agency.
The development came after Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI)’s senior leader Dr Yasmin Rashid alleged that ISI’s sector commander is working to harm their party in the upcoming by-election. The former Punjab’s health minister had openly named the ISI official.
Reacting to the allegations, army’s sources had asked for evidence from PTI to support their claims. They had added that strict action would be taken against those involved in any political activity.
