The Auditor General of Pakistan has identified financial irregularities worth billions of rupees in Punjab’s Daanish Schools.
According to the AGP‘s three-year special audit report, the Schools’ administration has embezzled more than PKR 11.39 billion.
The report highlighted severe financial irregularities over PKR 5.74 billion in 73 separate cases connected with the educational institute.
The report further stated that the former Managing Director of Daanish Schools, Zahoor Hussain, had violated the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules during his tenure.
It was also revealed that the MD had been involved in financial fraud worth PKR 5.1 million. He awarded the contract for meal and transportation of the admitted schoolchildren for approximately 3% more than its actual cost.
Following this, the AGP recommended strict action be taken against the schools’ administration as it has caused the national exchequer to lose billions of rupees.
