On Thursday morning, MQM (Muttahida Qaumi Movement) chief Altaf Hussain was summoned by London police due to the case being investigated by the police regarding hate speech. He was inquired by British authorities for five hours straight, along with an extension in his bail.

While talking to reporters before entering the Southwark police station, Mr. AltafHussain said he had full faith in British legal system. He also said that he hasn’t been in any wrong activity and is afraid of no one.

“I have faith in British law. I haven’t done anything wrong. I am not scared or afraid of anyone.” – He said.

Mr. Hussain said that this case was ‘’fabricated’’. Mustafa Azizabadi, MQM-London leader, revealed that Altaf Hussain reached the police station at 10 am local time. As per him, Mr. Hussain’s visit to the police station was to be made on Thursday since his bail was due to expire soon.
However, later on, Mr. Azizabadi confirmed that an extension in bail had been approved.

This isn’t the first time Mr. Hussain has been called in for inquiry. Back on June 11th of the current year, he was arrested by Met Police due to some hate speech being linked with him. He was released after he sought bail. His bail was due in September.

‘’Suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offenses”

The case against him was filed under ‘’suspicion of intentionally encouraging or assisting offenses contrary to Section 44 of the Serious Crime Act 2007’’. The investigation due to which he was arrested in June was under Met’s counterterrorism command’s supervision, as per a statement.

Met stated that the inquiry focused mainly on speech broadcast done in August 2016 by an individual. The individual was linked with MQM movement in Pakistan, other speeches by the same person were also broadcasted previously.

Two addresses referred back to the MQM founder in north-west London. These two addresses were searched by officers in June. Police officers had been in contact with Pakistani authorities in reference to their ongoing investigation.
