According to the Health experts, Tulsi is not a controlled substance, but the studies linked the material to mouth and oesophagus cancer. The product also causes tooth decay.
America- Public health officials warned central Ohio law enforcement to be on the lookout for a foreign substance known as betel nut or commonly known as Tulsi in Pakistan.
The World Health Organization (WHO) labelled the product as a poison, but police said teens are chewing Tulsi to get high.
The Reynoldsburg police said they believe that the substance was illicitly imported to Columbus from India or Nepal.
According to the Police, a school resource officer has caught some high school students at the Summit campus who immigrated from Nepal with Tulsi after they were seen acting disoriented and unsettled.
The Chief of the Reynoldsburg police, Jim O’Neill, said, “We believe there is an elated effect, but it also seems to affect their balance. There is a general loss of equilibrium and synchronization that goes along with the use of this substance.”
