Ankara and Beijing backs resolution of Kashmir issue following Trump’s mediation offer

Beijing backs US President Donald Trump’s offer of arbitrating between Pakistan and India for the resolution of the longstanding Kashmir dispute. The development followed Trump’s offer of mediation for the Kashmir issue during the recent Trump-Khan meeting.

Beijing has pledged to support the international community, including the US, in playing a constructive role in improving India-Pakistan relations through dialogue as per a statement by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying, Express Tribune reported.

“We hope the two countries can peacefully settle the Kashmir dispute and other bilateral issues via dialogue and make concerted efforts to safeguard peace and stability to South Asia,” added Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying in her statement.

In a similar development, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan also telephoned Prime Minister Imran Khan to discuss the bilateral ties as well as developments in the region including the ongoing peace talks and Kashmir dispute.

Indian media and politicians consistently denied the possibility of third party validation into the Kashmir issue neglecting the atrocities that are committed against the Kashmiri people at the hands of the administration. Kashmiris have long been facing the violence, forced displacements, women rights violations, harassments from the state agencies.

According to the report published by Kashmir Institute of International Relations, there have been 8000 to 9000 enforced disappearances in Kashmir since 2005; more than 13500 civilian injuries; thousands of women harassment cases besides multiple incidences of attacks on health facilities, schools and worship places.
