According to reports, after the approval of the state cabinet, the bill will now be tabled in the state assembly.

During a news conference, the Home Minister of the State Narottam Mishra shed some light on the bill and said:

The bill includes a maximum punishment of up to 10 years in jail and up to 100,000 Indian rupees ($1358) in fine, with the burden of proof virtually falling on the accused and those associated with the accused, including organizations and institutions.

An official statement released by the Ministry in this regard read:

Those looking to change their religion will have to notify two months ahead, failing which the marriage will be considered null and void under the new law.

Uttar Pradesh’s cabinet has already passed a bill against love-jihad.

It should be noted that action regarding the bill by the Madhya Pradesh government started after the Uttar Pradesh government passed a similar law one month ago.

Following the bill’s authorization in Uttar Pradesh, dozens of arrests were carried out in the name of love-jihad last month. In many of these instances, Muslim boys were allegedly abused in the name of the law.

Last month, dozens of arrests were carried out in Uttar Pradesh in the name of love-jihad.

In a recent incident in Uttar Pradesh on Friday, a Muslim teenager was arrested under the new law after he was found walking with a Hindu girl in the Bijnor district.

Details revealed that the boy and the girl were classmates and were returning from a friend’s birthday party when a group of men attacked them. The two were taken to a local police station as they were from different faiths.

Anti love-jihad law led to the arrest of many young Muslim boys.

Soon after, the court ruled against the Muslim boy as per the new anti-conversion law passed in the region. The Muslim boy was charged with abduction under the sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

According to the media, the police claimed:

The girl’s father filed a complaint report against the boy before the arrest.

However, the girl’s father denied any reports of filing a complaint against the Muslim boy.
