“Apna hi ghar smjho”: Pindi boys gave Usman Khawaja a warm welcome

Australian batter Usman Khawaja received a warm welcome from the crowd upon his return to Rawalpindi, the venue for the first test match between Pakistan and Australia. It is pertinent to mention that the 35 year old was born in Islamabad.

Khawaja moved to Australia at the age of five and he has represented the Aussies across all the formats. The 35-year-old is back in Pakistan and the fans have given him a warm welcome.

During the ongoing test match, there were multiple posters welcoming the visiting team. Some of these posters were especially made for Usman Khawaja. One of the posters read: “Usman Khawaja, apna hi ghar samjho!” (Think of it as your own home).”

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) shared multiple pictures of some amazing posters from the crowd. Some of them wanting to see Starc and Shaheen’s battle while others welcoming the Aussies.

Before the first test match, the Queensland player had posted a picture of himself playing cricket at the old Rawalpindi ground.

“Taken over 30 years ago, two weeks before we left for Australia. Me playing a shot on the old Rawalpindi ground (practice wickets). Who would have thought that I’d be back here for the green and gold. Can’t wait to get back out there.,” he had written.
