Ravi Ashwin revealed his favourite current Pakistani player
Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has nothing but words of appreciation for Pakistani players including Babar Azam, Muhammad Rizwan and Shaheen Shah Afridi. The three Pakistani players were the stand out performers in the cricket world this year.
The Pakistani opening pair racked up thousands of runs across the three formats, achieving new milestones. On the other hand, Shaheen Shah Afridi also had the cricket pundits talking, thanks to his lethal fast bowling.
Ravichandran Ashwin hosts a YouTube show, called “40 shades of Ash” where he answers 40 different questions from fans on social media. During the recent episode of his show, he was asked about his favourite current Pakistani player.
The Indian off-spinner named Muhammad Rizwan as his favourite player but rated Babar Azam a better batter.
“I’ve always been following Mohammad Rizwan and have been speaking about him for a while about the quality he brings and plays very crucial knocks but I think the standout batter & the ways he bats, the hundred in Australia, it has to be Babar Azam,” Ashwin said.
“Shaheen Afridi is real talent”
Furthemore, Ashwin also praised Shaheen Afridi and called him a real talent. The Pakistani fast bowler demolished the Indian batting line up in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup as he got the three crucial wickets of Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul and Virat Kohli.
“After that real sticker that has been going around, Shaheen Shah Afridi is well, real talent. Pakistan has always had some talented cricketers and they have more now,” Ashwin concluded his answer.
