The Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has announced the date for the Asia Cup 2022, which will be played in Sri Lanka. The date of the tournament was confirmed following a meeting of the ACC members.

The details of the ACC meeting were shared on the official Twitter handle of the Asian Cricket Council. According to the detail, the Asia Cup 2022 will start in Sri Lanka from August 27 to September 11. The tournament will be held in T20 format.

The schedule of the Asia Cup 2022 will be announced later. The qualifiers will commence from August 2022.

Furthermore, the membership of Qatar has been upgraded from Associate to ACC Full Member status. The meeting further decided that the tenure of Jay Shah and and that of the Executive Board along with its Committees will continue until the 2024 Annual General Meeting.

It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan will be hosting the 2023 Asia Cup. The Asia Cup 2023 will be based on 50-over format due to the ODI World Cup in the same year. Moreover, Pakistan will also be hosting the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy.
