NAB approved references against Sharjeel Memon on assets beyond the mean case

On Friday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) authorizes references against the former information minister and leader of Pakistan People Party (PPP) Sharjeel Inam Memon and two others in assets beyond the mean case.

According to the details, NAB chairperson Justice (R) Javed Iqbal chaired the meeting of the executive board in which it was decided the corruption references would be filed against three references.

It includes Sharjeel Inam Memon leader of PPP and the former managing director of the Pakistan State Oil (PSO) Irfan Khalil Qureshi for misusing authority, which caused 552 million rupees loss to the national finances. The third reference is against Abdul Hameed for apparently granting contracts illicitly that according to NAB have caused billion of loss to the national treasury.

Furthermore, it was also decided in the meeting that from now on all the cases regarding sales and tax will be handled by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

Moreover, inquiries against former federal minister Babar Ghauri, Senator Kulsoom Parveen and former principal secretary to prime minister Fawad Hassan Fawad, while members of the Provincial Assembly Awais Shah, Ghulam Ali Nizamani and Saeed Khan Nizamani were also approved in the same meeting.

Chairperson of NAB said we are intended to recover all that money that has been looted from the national finances. He further added that in the last 22 months NAB has recovered the amount of RS71 billion.

All these efforts are being taken to eliminate risk and danger of corruption from the society and soon this dream will be realized and fulfilled, he said.
