Doctor banned from practice after patients report discomfort as he ‘starts recording TikTok videos during treatment’

Recently, a famous plastic surgeon was banned from practice after allegedly stopping midway through his surgeries to record TikTok content.

Who is this plastic surgeon?

Dr. Daniel Aronov, who has over 13 million followers on TikTok, has been barred from carrying out all types of cosmetic surgery in Australia by the governing organization (the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency).

Dr. Aronov garnered his following with videos that showed him dancing and performing procedures on people.

Patients Complaint about the Doctor

According to details, several patients have now come forward to speak about Dr. Aronov’s horror procedures.

One of his patients called Jackie, said:

I was left suffering from pain with a lump in my chin after a nightmare facelift by Dr. Aronov, which he posted on the social platform.

Speaking to a media outlet, she said:

In the middle of surgery, he used to stop, check the video, then say, no, I don’t want that, cut that out, do it again. The fact that AHPRA has been incentivized actually to do something after years of complaints, I don’t know whether to laugh or cry. It’s surreal to me.

Another woman claimed:

He shared footage of my surgery online without my permission. He even offered to send a staple remover to my home for me to remove staples from my own cheek.

A male patient shared:

I was left with a fatty lump on my stomach after a liposuction procedure went awry. If I knew then what I know now, then I wouldn’t have let Dr. Aronov come anywhere near me.

AHPRA takes Action against the Doctor

After banning Dr. Aronov’s practice license, AHPRA has asked the surgeon to delete all surgery-related content from his TikTok profile. In the meantime, he has been told he can only treat patients as a general practitioner under strict supervision.

Speaking to a media outlet, AHPRA said:

Public safety is our number one priority, and we take all notifications seriously. Confidentiality provisions in the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law prevent us from commenting on individual matters unless that information is publicly available, such as conditions on the public register of practitioners or an outcome of a tribunal hearing. The Medical Board of Australia imposed conditions on Dr. Aronov’s registration on the 26th of November 2021. They are not time-limited and will remain until the Medical Board of Australia revokes them. Usually, this would only happen if the Board believes the restrictions are no longer necessary on appeal by an independent tribunal.

The AHPRA spokesperson further shared:

Speaking generally, conditions can be imposed on a practitioner’s registration by a National Board when the National Board decides to register a practitioner or renew a practitioner’s registration as an interim step to restrict practice while an investigation is carried out. This is called taking immediate action or as an outcome after a notification process. Conditions that restrict a practitioner’s practice of the profession are published on the public register of practitioners. When a National Board decides the conditions are no longer needed to protect the public, they are removed from the practitioner’s registration and no longer published. Our inquiries in relation to this practitioner are ongoing, so we cannot comment further at this time.

Dr. Aronov stays silent on the matter

Dr. Aronov spoke to a media outlet via a lawyer and said:

It would be inappropriate for me to comment on any matters that are currently the subject of any AHPRA inquiry.
