Ayub Khan laid foundation for CPEC: Umar Ayub Khan
- President Ayub Khan had laid the foundation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor, says Minister for power.
- Governments of PML-N and PPP, Umar Ayub said that the country has to pay billions of rupees as interest payments, he said.
Almost all of the leading political parties of the country seem to take the credit for initiating the China Pakistan Economic Corridor. After the PML-N and PPP, here comes the grandson of the president Ayub Khan. His yesterday’s speech on the floor of the assembly came up with the startling revelation.
“Former President of Pakistan Ayub Khan had laid the foundation of China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) by taking the initiative of Karakoram Highway,” he said.
Umar Ayub Khan, the grandson of General Ayub Khan, is currently serving as a federal minister for power. However, this is not the first time that he’s been a member of the National Assembly. CPEC is the flagship project of China’s Belt and Road initiative.
Belt and Road project is an inter-continental multi-billion dollar project that will connect Asia, Europe, and Africa. CPEC aspires to connect almost all the major cities of Pakistan through its eastern route.
Criticizing the past governments of PML-N and PPP, Umar Ayub said that the country has to pay billions of rupees as interest payments on loans taken by these corrupt governments. It has now become a trend in the country’s politics that new politicians most of them the forerunners of the past ruling elite bestow the credit of achievements and developments in the country to their forefathers.
