The latest squad and team selection of the Pakistani cricket team, especially the fragile middle-order, has been the reason for many controversies. To begin with, cricketers Asif Ali, Danish Aziz, and Haider Ali have been tried numerous times but failed to impress selectors enough to make it to the team.
Moreover, the critics believe that selectors have finalized the team selection without any input from the Pakistani cricket team captain Babar Azam. According to details, the captain has refuted all such claims stating:
I make all major decisions of the team after I consult with the team management.
Shoaib Malik says, ‘I beg to differ.’
Veteran all-rounder, Shoaib Malik, believes that Pakistan’s all-format captain, Babar Azam, does not have full authority over the Pakistani cricket team. Malik states that the team caption does not take major decisions of the team.
Shoaib Malik further shared:
Babar Azam is like a younger brother to me. I hope that he can take the Pakistani cricket team to new heights. He has played a lot of cricket under me, and alongside me, so I am aware of his nature. When he does make decisions (by himself), I will know that straightaway.
Malik also spoke about his aspirations to be a part of Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad later this year. The veteran all-rounder feels that he is ready to come back to solidify a weak middle-order and help Pakistan lift their second T20 World Cup title. It should be noted that Shoaib Malik has not been considered for team selection since last year; only time will tell whether his desires are fulfilled.
