Balochistan’s Revenue Collection Up By a Massive 164%

Balochistan’s revenue collection has witnessed an increase of 164 per cent in the first half of the current fiscal year as compared to the same period of last year. The government has collected Rs7.84 billion revenue so far.

“Balochistan Revenue Authority (BRA) and other departments have collected huge revenue during the first six months of current fiscal year compared to Rs4.90 billion in the fiscal year 2018-19,” said Finance Minister Balochistan Zahoor Buledi.

He further added the the government has set the target of Rs21 billion for the current year and the government will make every possible effort to achieve this target. With advancement in technology, the Balochistan government is also working on the digitization of the land revenue information system to increase its revenue collection further.

The provincial minister also mentioned government plans of establishing online taxation system in excise and taxation department of the province to facilitate taxpayers as well as to bring transparency in the system.

The proposal of computerised number plates of vehicles was also under the consideration of Provincial Department of Excise, Taxation and Narcotics Control, he said.

Moreover, the Balochistan government will also work on a plan to digitalise the transport sector of the province. The whole process will cost as much as Rs70 million.

Zahoor Buledi hoped that once the project is completed, it will enhance the revenue returns in transportation sector from Rs12 million to Rs1.5 billion.
