#BanIPL: Indian fans want IPL banned following team India’s embarrassing performance in the T20 world cup
Indian cricket fans want the Indian Premier League (IPL) to be banned following team India’s embarrassing performance in the ongoing T20 world cup. The Indian cricket fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment and anger with the hashtag #BanIPL.
India lost their second game in a row at the T20 World Cup against New Zealand. The Men in Blue were earlier thrashed by the Pakistan cricket team in their opening game of the tournament.
Team India’s chances of qualifying for the semi final hang by a thread. Virat Kohli and co. would hope Afghanistan beat the Kiwis and then they win against Afghanistan by a big margin to keep their hopes alive.
Soon after New Zealand beat India, #BanIPL started trending in India. The cricket fans in the neighbouring country blame the IPL for their horrible performance. It should be noted that Indian cricketers played in the UAE for over four weeks in India’s franchise based T20 tournament. Here’s what cricket fans in India have to say about the IPL.

An angry Indian cricket fan advised the BCCI to calm down. “You are not playing for IPL, you are playing for your country,” he said.

Despite starting the tournament as the favourite, India looks like a mediocre team with no spark. Their mighty batting line-up comprising of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul has completely flopped . The Indian batting has been completely rattled by the opposition. First against Pakistan and then New Zealand, the Indian batters just can’t seem to settle and score runs.
