BCCI Planning To Send Its Team To Pakistan For Asia Cup 2023
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planing to send its team to Pakistan for next year’s Asia Cup, as per Cricbuzz. However, the final decision lies in the hands of the Indian government.
The revelation came after BCCI sent a note to the state associations ahead of the October 18 Annual General Meeting (AGM), mentioning the events the Indian team will be participating in next year. It includes Asia Cup 2023, which will be played in Pakistan.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be hosting the 50-over Asia Cup just ahead of the 50-over ICC World Cup in India. The AGM note shows BCCI’s willingness to travel to Pakistan.
The last time India came to Pakistan was in 2008. Cricbuzz contacted the BCC officials regarding this but didn’t get a clear response. It should be noted that Jay Shah, who is the BCCI secretary, is also the president of Asian Cricket Council (ACC).
“It will be subject to the clearance of the Government of India as always,” said a BCCI official. Although, UAE can used as an alternative venue but the BCCI note gives positive indications about sending its team to Pakistan.
