‘Bill Gates wants to study how Pakistan controlled COVID-19’ PM Khan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has stated that the American Business Magnate, Bill Gates wants to study how Pakistan controlled the coronavirus.

In an exclusive interview with Dunya News, The Prime Minister discussed various issues, including Pakistan’s foreign policy, economy, regional situation, national concerns, and politics.

Speaking about the pandemic situation in Pakistan, the PM in a one-on-one interview on Dunya News program “Dunya Kamran Khan Kay Saath,” said, “Coronavirus came to Pakistan at the end of February. During that time, cases were increasing in Europe amid complete lockdowns.”

“Considering the condition in Europe, there were calls to implement a complete lockdown in Pakistan as well. However, from day one, our concern was what would happen to the poor because of a nationwide lockdown. Pakistan’s situation was not like Europe, but I was severely criticized. Even members of my own party called for the lockdown, but I resisted,” he said.

The PM added that the ‘smart lockdown’ strategy had worked successfully for Pakistan.

Khan also shared how Bill Gates lauds Pakistan’s efforts against the COVID-19 outbreak. He said, “Bill Gates appreciated our success against Covid-19 and asked me that he wanted to study how Pakistan controlled the coronavirus.”
