Biopic of Teenage Hero Aitzaz Hassan Airs On State Television

Strong and resilient nations never forget their heroes and to forget a hero like Aitzaz Hassan is not only unfair to the sacrifice he made but also speaks volume about our collective conscience.

At the age of 15 years only, Aitzaz served the nation in a way that no one did before him and no one has depicted this exemplary courage after him either. Hailing from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Hangu district, Aitzaz single-handedly saved 2000 students of his school.

Student of 9th grade at Government High School, Ibrahimzai, Hangu, Aitzaz was outside the school on 6th January 2014 along with his two other classmates. He was not allowed to attend class due to tardiness. In the state, he saw a 20-25 years old man approaching the school gate allegedly to ‘take admission’. However, he noticed the detonator on his vest and while the other two friends ran away, Aitzaz confronted the suicide bomber and managed to save 2000 students who were in the school building at that time, sacrificing his own.

While the entire nation remembered his precious sacrifice on his fourth death anniversary but the National television also made an unconventional step to honour this young hero.

PTV aired a biopic made on Aitzaz’s life for the first time. Back in the year 2016, Shahzad Rafique made a biopic named ”Salute”, hailing the bravery of the teenage hero. While it will well-loved by people, screened in schools and was also the part of Punjab’s national action plan, despite several tries, he couldn’t manage to air it on PTV. However, this year it happened.

Shahzad said that he had previously failed to get it on State Television and gave credits to the new PTV management for making it possible this year.
