WATCH: BOL under fire for deliberately promoting sectarianism for ratings
#BolPromotingSectarianism is trending in Pakistan.
The private TV channel named ‘BOL’ has been accused of promoting sectarianism on national television during its Ramadan transmission show.
During the transmission, the Sunni scholars forced a Shia cleric Allama Zameer Akhter Zaqvi to clarify his stance on the status of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) companions in Shia sect.
The Shia scholar left the show after a heated discussion.

Social media users are requesting the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulation Authority (PEMRA) to take strict action against the channel. BOL is under fire for spreading hate during the Holy month of Ramadan and deliberately choosing topics that instigate a sectarian debate for the sake of ratings.
A social media user tweeted: “It was a deliberate attack; they all gang up against one. That’s harassment, terrorism and one of them openly gave life threats to the Shia scholar.”

It is disappointing how BOL channel anchors are promoting sectarianism for ratings and increasing conflicts between Shia/Sunni.

It is the duty of an Anchor to keep the environment cool and calm. Instead of playing a positive role She just make the things more controversial and promote sectarianism.🖐#BolPromotingsectarianism pic.twitter.com/jKJjqCevUg
