#BoycottLaCasaDePapel starts trending on Twitter as Money Heist actors are witnessed praising Israel
Hovik Kochkarian, who plays Bogota, expressed his admiration for the “Fauda” series.
TV series Money Heist, the global sensation produced by Netflix, recently released the first part of its fifth season. Fans and followers couldn’t stop talking about the latest episodes. They also couldn’t stop praising the cast for a phenomenal performance and the director and scriptwriter for another outstanding delivery.
However, following their latest interview, the TV show stars have started to attract major criticism. Things have worsened to the extent that the hashtag #BoycottLaCasaDePapel is trending on Twitter.
What happened?
Recently, the cast of Money Heist visited the occupied Palestinian lands for an interview with an Israeli news channel. During the interview, the actors disclosed their fascination with Israel, asserting their intention of promoting it and visiting again.

In the interview, actor Darko Peric, who plays Helsinki in the series, said:
My previous visit to the occupied territories was an extraordinary experience, and I hope to return to Israel again. I know we have a lot of fans here, and they’re great people. When people travel to Israel, they always talk of the extreme security measures, but when I got here, even police members wanted to take pictures with me. It was fascinating.
Hovik Kochkarian, who plays Bogota, expressed his admiration for the “Fauda” series. Fauda means “mess” or “chaos” in Arabic, depicting units of Mista’arvim assassinating Palestinians. Mista’arvim are Israeli undercover units who infiltrate Palestinian ranks and groups. Whether it’s in prison or protests, they either disrupt or brutally kill those they deem dangerous.
Enrique Arce, who plays Arturo in the season, said:
I must say that Israel is one of the countries that I plan to visit. I have a friend from Tel Aviv. I want to come. I’ve heard great things about Israel.
The interview caused a wave of anger on social networking sites. Several Twitter users called for a boycott of the series in response to this “admiration” for the occupation state. The hashtag #BoycottLaCasaDePapel has been widespread ever since.
Here are some of the tweets people are sharing with the viral hashtag:
