Federal Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry slapped senior anchorperson Sami Ibrahim at a wedding ceremony in Faisalabad. It happened following an argument between the two.

The drama rolled after senior anchorperson Sami Ibrahim alleged that some elements inside Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) are conspiring against  Prime Minister Imran Khan to oust him and to weaken the Pakistan Army. He named Fawad Chaudhary as part of the group that is planning to topple the incumbent government.

The minister responded aggressively, abusing and using slurs against the senior journalist. His harsh response attracted criticism and irked politicians, civil society and members of the journalist community alike.

With the verbal exchange of heated words, Fawad also accused Sami of blackmailing him when he was the information minister.

Fawad announced to initiate criminal proceedings:

Fawad tweeted that he has initiated criminal proceedings against the senior anchorperson. With a lot of personal comments directed at the Sami, Fawad said he would teach him a lesson taking the path of law as well.

However, both met on a wedding in Faislabad today and the meeting lead to a heated argument on the ongoing scenario. The fight turned physical, leading to the minister  slapping him on his face.

The journalist community has announced protests on Saturday to condemn the minister’s behaviour and show solidarity with the senior media person.
