A five-star hotel is soon be built near the National Stadium in Karachi — the City of Lights.

This was revealed by the business tycoon, Aqeel Karim Dhedhi, during a meeting with the Chairperson of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Ramiz Raja, and other business tycoons during the PCB’s chief’s visit to Karachi on Tuesday.

Dhedhi, the owner of one of Pakistan’s most giant conglomerates AKD Group, informed Raja that he would single-handedly invest in constructing a 200-room five-star hotel near the National Stadium.

Fun Fact: Aqeel Karim Dhedhi is also nicknamed ‘Aqeel Daddy’ by some in Karachi due to his power and influence.

Dhedhi also disclosed that it would be easy for him to pump in $8-$9 million (₨. 13-₨. 15 arab) for the hotel’s establishment.

It is pertinent to note that the reason for the establishment of a hotel near the National Stadium is to accommodate touring international cricketers and eliminate the so-called “security concerns” to the visiting teams.

The new hotel would also lift a huge burden from the shoulders of Karachiites.

Whenever an international cricketing team or international cricketers visit Karachi, all roads leading from the hotel to the National Stadium are blocked for the purpose of “security” for the visiting players.

This means that one of Karachi’s most important roads, Shahrah-e-Faisal, is completely blocked, along with the Karsaz Road and the National Stadium Road.

This traffic has made Karachiites despise international cricketers visiting their city.

However, the construction of the new hotel near the cricket ground would be received as a positive gesture by Karachiites, as well as the international cricketers.

  • This is a dream come true as I was thinking since long that why our public or private sector is not encashing this platinum opportunity of business. At the same time it will fulfill the requirements of exhibitors participating in expos taking place at Karachi Expo Center throughout the year from outside Karachi and outside Pakistan as well especially when IDEAS is taking place. In that case TDAP may also be taken on board and a wonderful public-private partnership venture may surface with full potential. Wish you all the best to those who are taking this step. Bravo

  • I venture to suggest that Karachi has a new cricket stadium across PAF Masroor along with a 5 star hotel. This way city life will not be affected at all and the brand new venue will add to the safety of visiting teams. Moreover the flight can make a landing and departure from the air base.
