Doctors call it an emergency situation as health situation deteriorates in Sindh. Patients are suggested to seek urgent help from skin specialists and take preventive measures.
As per Sindh’s ONLY skin hospital, Institute of Skin Diseases Karachi, 4,72,830 patients were registered in the last seven months with skin conditions ranging from mild to severe needing medical attention. 16,165 skin related surgeries have also been performed during the said period.
According to the statistics issued by the hospital, a total of 4,72,83 patients were examined at ISDS in the previous 7 months and 23,882 tests were conducted. The report further revealed the stats that a total of 29,740 fungus ailments cases were reported and 1,10,880 infectious allergies cases were examined in the said months.
Dr Iqbal Nabi Soomro, Director of Institute of Skin Diseases Sindh said that the situation is worsening said that the citizens need to take preventive measures on their own to fight the crisis and avoid eczema and infectious allergies.
He also insisted to seek urgent help from a professional when start noticing the symptoms. Institute of Skin Diseases Sindh also reported that during this period, a fine number of cases of face wrinkles, bacterial infection, heat rashes, viral infection, eczema, lichen planus, psoriasis and other skin related conditions were also reported in abundance.
The institute also informed that the needed treatment, including ointments and lotions are being provided free of cost to the patients. The hospital said that all the facilities have been improved and are offering better quality through collaboration with Aga Khan Hospital by case studies affiliated with different skin diseases. Institute of Skin Diseases Sindh has also recently included the HIV/AIDS facility to treat the patients.
