CDA on the radar: FIA to probe 57 cases against officials
Apart from the CDA cases, the restoration of kiosks was also discussed in the meeting.
It was revealed recently that the FIA (Federal Investigation Agency) would be probing 57 cases against the officials of the CDA (Capital Development Authority).
A meeting of the Senate standing committee was chaired by Senator Rehman Malik on Monday. The FIA briefed the meeting regarding the current status of ongoing inquiries against the allegedly corrupt CDA officials.
The Senate Standing Committee has directed the investigating members of the FIA to provide the details of present cases in the next meeting. Apart from the CDA cases, the restoration of kiosks was also discussed.
Senator Javed Abbasi recently expressed concern regarding the restoration of public telephone booths in the country’s capital. During the meeting, it was informed that the Directorate of Municipal Administration of MCI has directed the CDA to build kiosks in the city systematically.
Amir Ali Ahmed, the chairman of Capital Developmental Authority, Amir Ali Ahmed reassured the committee that the sites for the establishment of kiosks have been decided.
The kiosks would be established in various parts of the city, including the sectors of F-10/2, F-10/3, F-11/3, I-10, I-9, I-8/1, G-11/1, G-11/3, G-10/2, G-7/2, and G-7/3, as well as the GT Road, Muree Road, and Islamabad Expressway.
The Senate Standing Committee said that after the razing of telephone booths, a number of people have become unemployed. The committee also directed to prioritize the construction of kiosks and ensure proper licenses in all cases.
