‘Ek Zardari sabse barhi beemari’: Celebrities react to Supreme Court’s verdict

After long arguments, boycotts and delays, the Supreme Court of Pakistan announced its verdict in the CM Punjab election case last night.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s candidate – Chaudhry Pervez Elahi – was declared as the CM Punjab, suspending Deputy Speaker’s ruling in favor of Hamza Shehbaz. The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML N) candidate had been declared the winner after ten votes of Pervez Elahi were rejected.

Reacting to the verdict, Imran Khan’s supporters took to the streets as well as social media to celebrate the win. Pakistani celebrities also expressed their happiness over the country’s top court’s verdict.

Veteran actor Adnan Siddiqui wrote: “Hail democracy! People’s faith has been restored. Hoping it’s upheld by the elected leaders.”

Osman Khalid Butt shared a gif of the famous Bollywood song “Ilahi mera jee aaye aaye.”

Arsalan Naseer suggested ‘Hamza bhai’ to lock the doors of the office from the inside and not worry.

“Time to celebrate,” wrote Muneeb Butt.

In another tweet, he said that Deputy Speaker Dost Mazari should be arrested for breaking the constitution.

Maya Ali termed the Supreme Court’s verdict a great decision for Pakistan. “Can’t be more happy to see this,” she added.

“Justice is served,” morning show host Shaista Lodhi wrote.

“Ik Zardari sub say bari beemari,” Ahsan Mohsin Ikram tweeted.
