Whether you are a dedicated cricket enthusiast or not, Chacha Cricket is a name you must have come across. Flaunting the green shirt and cheering the team, he truly is the face of cricket fandom in Pakistan. His love for the sport will be now internationally recognized as an icon of passion due to his extensive dedication and services towards the sport as a super fan.
Originally belonging from Sialkot, 70 years old Abdul Jalil goes by the name of Chaha Cricket and attended his first cricket match in 1969. After fifty years of his support to the sport and green shirts, he will be honoured with the prestigious Global Sports Fan Award on June 14 in Manchester.
He will receive the award two days before Pakistan and India come face to face in one of the biggest and most awaited fights of the tournament.
Along with him, four other fans belonging to different countries will also get the award. Chacha cricket expressed happiness over the recognition and said that it is indeed an emotional moment for him.
“After five decades of Cricket frenzy madness, I am overwhelmed to get my first global recognition. This is an emotional moment for me and I would like to thank my family and all the well-wishers who stood beside me. Also inundated to stoke the fandom across Cricket playing nations.” – he said as Geo News reports.
He added how he feels seeing recognition of his efforts towards the cause he has dedicated 50 years of his life to.
“It’s been 50 years since I have stood tall for my team cheering louder & higher but this award has justified all my cheers and tears that have seen emotions & sacrifices. I am so honoured to receive the first-ever Global Sports Fan Awards having my life spent for the cause of my passion and goodness of Cricket” – he added.
He is the single-most experienced fan in Pakistan who has seen the national cricket evolving through all these years. It is heartwarming to see his efforts getting recognized.
