Changan Motors: Two new cars undergoing testing, to be released in the Pakistani auto market
Changan’s new compact crossover SUV, the UNI-T, made its global debut at the end of March 2020.
Recently, Changan took to social media to post photos of two supposed vehicle mules being tested on Karachi’s roads. As soon as the pictures were uploaded on the internet, they went viral. Pakistanis are now intrigued to know more about these test mules: the UNI-T SUV and the F70 pickup truck.
The UNI-T SUV
Changan’s new compact crossover SUV, the UNI-T, made its global debut at the end of March 2020. The vehicle was meant to make an entrance at the Geneva Motor Show of 2020, but the pandemic interrupted the launch of the SUV.
According to reports, the vehicle is available in China only for now. It features a single-engine option, a 1.5-liter supercharged petrol engine that makes 177 hp and 300 Nm of torque. Reports state that a more powerful, 2.0-liter engine option for the SUV is on the way to the Chinese market.
The F70 Pick up
The F70 pickup truck is a mid-size pickup truck that directly competes with vehicles like Toyota Hilux, MG Extender, and Isuzu D-Max. This truck has been co-developed by Changan and PSA Groupe and is being sold in Latin America and Saharan Africa as the Peugeot Landtrek.
In the international markets, the F70 is offered with three engine options:
- a 1.9-liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 150 hp and 350 Nm of torque;
- a 2.4-liter turbocharged petrol engine that makes 218 hp and 320 Nm of torque;
- a 2.5-liter turbocharged diesel engine that makes 150 hp and 360 Nm of torque.
All the engines come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission with a four-wheel-drive option.
The automotive community is bursting with happiness at the news of two new Changan vehicles hitting the roads of Pakistan. Pakistanis are excited to see the result of the testing process. Many car experts have already started contemplateing whether Changan will be able to maintain its foothold in the Pakistani auto market by extending its product line with these two vehicles or not.
