Chief Justice Offers Job To Two Transgender Persons In A Bid To Promote Gender Equality

Transgender rights have really sparked a debate in Pakistan, ever since the crimes against the discriminated gender minority have seen an obvious rise. It is still a question if there is an increase in the overall acts of harassment and hatred against the transgender community in Pakistan or due to the powerful social media, more of them are being reported – but nonetheless, we need to pay urgent attention to the violation of human rights.

The forgotten third gender became their own voice and started to speak for their rights so loudly – that now have become quite tough to ignore!

Extending a hand of support for them, being an advocate of their social rights, Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar has announced to give jobs to two transgender persons.

He made the announcement while chairing a bench that was hearing a case regarding transgender rights. He said that the community as a whole faces ridicule and marginalization in Pakistan and it should be our top-most priority to guard their rights.

“In our society transgenders are subjected to ridicule. It is our top most priority to give them their rights” – Chief Justice said speaking to a local media outlet.

CJP also said that a notice will be issued to NGOs and government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to involve them in the process of reforms.

“Court wants to bring them into the mainstream. It wants to resolve their issues,” – said the CJP.

CJP further highlighted how the community is being specifically targeted in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and he also mentioned the name of a website which is involved in instigating hate and spreading misleading information about them.

This revolutionary decision from Pakistan’s top court is truly groundbreaking, as it sets new precedents for the people to follow.
