China approves construction of 58 schools, 30 hospitals in former FATA
Currently, Pakistan and China are working on 10 agriculture projects.
Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing has said that the Chinese government has approved the plan to construct 58 schools in former Fata and 30 hospitals in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.
“Our forefathers belong to the region now known as the northern areas of Pakistan. Hence it is our top priority to develop these areas,” Jing expressed his views while addressing a national seminar on Friends of Silk Road.
He pressed on the need for regional peace and stability, saying that only then China will be able to execute its dream projects like connecting Quetta, Chaman with Gwadar and Peshawar to Kabul and onwards to Kazakhstan via railway tracks.
Joint agriculture projects:
Currently, Pakistan and China are working on 10 agriculture projects. Ambassador Jing urged the Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) to come up with proposals establishing 10 agriculture labs in the country through PARC (Planning Commission and Pakistan Agriculture Research Council).

”Peshawar would be the gateway to central Asia in the region and in near future, the rail tracks from Karachi to Peshawar would be upgraded along with the new rail systems”, he said.
The Chinese ambassador also signed the cheque of Rs. 2 million for scholarships for the students studying in UoP. Ambassador Jing further promised 30 scholarships for UoP faculty as well. While addressing the gathering, K-P Governor Shah Farman said that HEIs need to rise the occasion, meeting global demands of agriculture, mineral and technology sectors.
He added that it is his priority to take universities to serve students, industry, and society through fast track procedures. He added that no relaxation will be given to institutions that are lagging behind this venture.
