China’s border trade with Pakistan increased by 1.4% to $856.3 million in 2019

China has consistently played a significant role in the economic and financial growth of Pakistan. In 2019, the trade volume has increased substantially at an important border port between Pakistan and China.

Under the CPEC project, Cargo import and export have increased up to 46.8% in the first 11 months of the current year, at the Khunjerab Pass in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region as compared to the same period last year. According to the Chinese media, this year, the trade volume has increased by 1.4% to $856.3 million.

Imports and Exports from China

China mainly imports textiles, agricultural products, daily commodities, and exports herbs and plants at the Khunjarab pass.

According to the Urumqi customs statistics, in 2019, the total value of imports and exports from Xinjiang ports to Pakistan have increased by 1.2% as compared to the previous year.

In recent years, the CPEC project has driven a large number of major projects such as energy and power, electricity, roads, and railways.

With the CPEC Project, China and Pakistan can accomplish broad connectivity, diversification, and mutual benefit. It is not only a model project and flagship project of China’s “Belt and Road” initiative but also renders a great opportunity in the development of Pakistan.
