According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) has achieved major progress since its launch seven years ago, bringing a sum of $25 billion of direct investments to the country.
During his usual briefing in Beijing, the Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Wang Wenbin noted that many projects had been started or completed under CPEC, an enterprising project of the Belt & Road Initiative (BRI) initiated by Chinese President Xi Jinping.
In the last six years, CPEC projects have generated around 55,000 direct jobs in the road construction sector, of which 48,000 have been created explicitly for local Pakistanis.
