Father of minor christian girl, who was kidnapped, chained and raped for months, requests PM Khan for help
According to the police, Farah Shaheen, now age 13, was abducted from Faisalabad on the 12th of June.
A Muslim man was accused of kidnapping a 12-year-old Christian girl in September 2020.
According to the police, Farah Shaheen, now age 13, was abducted from Faisalabad on the 12th of June. Reports further allege that the girl was kept chained in the yard of a 45-year-old man, Khizar Hayat, for five months. During this time, Farah was raped repeatedly.
A charity organization, Aid to the Church in Need, said:
The girl’s family made repeated complaints to the police following the kidnapping, but they were ignored for months.
Farah Shaheen’s Case Details
According to the family, Farah was abducted on the 12th of June 2020. The father of Farah Shaheen shared:
Despite making multiple complaints to the police, I was not able to file an official report until September. The police even made racial comments about me and threatened to charge me with blasphemy.
The police finally registered the kidnapping complaint in September and started investigating the case. Following the investigation, Farah Shaheen was rescued in Faisalabad on the 5th of December.
When the police found her, the young girl had cuts on her ankles from the shackles that had been used to chain her. According to reports, the young Christian girl was raped and forced to work and clear animal dung in Khizar Hayat’s yard all day long.
The father of Farah Shaheen stated:
[She] has told me she was treated like a slave. She was forced to work all day, cleaning filth in a cattle yard. 24-7, and she was attached to a chain.
Twist in the Investigation
Instead of arresting Khizar Hayat on the account of kidnapping and rape, the Pakistan police have dropped all charges against the man. The police dropped the investigation after claiming that young Farah has testified that she willingly married her abductor. Investigators state:
We have dropped the charges against Hayat after Farah testified that she had agreed to convert to Islam and marry him.
While talking to a publication, investigating officer, Musaddiq Riaz stated:
Ms. Shaheen is 16 or 17 years old, and she confessed before a magistrate that she married of her own will and wants to live with Khizar Hayat.
On the contrary, the Christian girl’s family accuses the police of fabricating evidence, ignoring their case, and racially abusing them during the investigation. A media outlet reported:
Farah’s birth certificate confirms that her age last June was 12.
Christian Charities take up Farah’s Case
Now the case has been taken up by the Christian charities who claim that several girls are being abducted and forced into marriage in Pakistan.
Human rights groups state:
An estimated 1,000 Christian and Hindu girls are kidnapped each year and forced to convert to Islam.
The charity Aid to the Church in Need said:
Farah’s case calls into question how Britain is spending its overseas aid, with £302 million going to Pakistan.
The charity further stated:
The government should tackle Christian persecution abroad rather than support regimes where child marriage takes place.
Farah Shaheen’s father has appealed to Prime Minister Imran Khan for help.
