CM Sindh announces free treatment for visually-impaired children of Taqi Usmani’s martyred guard

Yesterday notable religious cleric Mufti Taqi Usmani was targetted in an assassination attempt in Karachi. Though he stayed safe in the attack and his family remained unharmed as well, it claimed lives of police guard and driver.

The attackers opened fire on Mufti Usmani’s silver Toyota Corolla when it was exiting the bridge on the ramp leading to Aladin Park. Six to seven bullets were fired. Mufti Usmani was taken to a private hospital and was declared safe during, what is being called the assassination attempt.

After the incident, CM Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the attack and went to inquire about Mufti Taqi’s health. He also ordered the Karachi police chief to arrest the attackers as soon as possible. With that, he also ordered to take stringent measures to avoid more incidents of such nature taking place in future.

He particularly lauded the courage of the martyred police guard Muhammad Farooq, who sacrificed his life performing his duty. The martyr was the sole breadwinner of the family and left behind seven children. Among them, three are visually impaired. After performing his duty in the uniform, he worked at a puncture shop to make his ends meet. With his own family, he was also taking care of his widowed sister’s family and her 5 children.
CM Shah said that the children are now the state’s responsibility and will be provided with quality education. He added that the kids having visual impairment will also be treated by the government. However, it is yet to see if the promises will be fulfilled.
