Controversial Orange Line Metro Train Completed First Trial Run And People Had A Lot To Say About It – See Reactions, Details Here

After a long wait, finally, the Orange Line Metro Train (OLMT), country’s first ever metro line, had its first trial yesterday in Lahore. The train, as part of its trial run, ran near Depot. According to authorities, about 12 km long segment of track from Dera Gujran and Lakshmi Chowk will be completed in the current week. As per advisor to Chief Minister Khawaja Ahmad, four more train sets have reached Lahore to complete the project.

Back in December, Supreme Court of Pakistan dismissed decision of Lahore High court that halted work on selected sites of the project. The Apex court permitted going ahead with the project with the same speed but the bench also set 31 conditions to ensure transparency and smooth functioning. The conditions included having strict checks of construction, and the dedicated trial period before the formal operations begin.

Shehbaz Sharif took to Twitter and announced the successful trial run of Orange Line Metro Train in Lahore. As expected, the announcement met mixed public reactions and people had a lot to say about it.
