‘Do not worry, Coronavirus mortality rate is less than common flu’, says Pakistani health expert
On the other hand, Coronavirus is dangerous as it spreads at a faster speed
A Pakistani health expert said that people need not worry about coronavirus as its mortality rate was only 3%. The percentage is less than the common flu.
While speaking to Geo News, an expert on contagious viruses, Dr. Naseem Salahuddin said that it was important for people to remain cautious and take preventive measures. She added that viruses change every few years.
Dr. Salahuddin explained that Influenza A virus or ‘common flu’ was also dangerous and could even cause the death of those who have weak immune systems. The virus is already present in Pakistan but people are not aware of it and fear around it is lower. However, she recommended people to take care and take preventive measures against flu.
On the other hand, she said that Coronavirus is dangerous as it spreads at a faster speed. Although the virus has a low mortality rate, anyone with less resistance or any other severe disease could lose their lives.
If somehow the virus gets carried in Pakistan and spreads, it could be a concerning situation, Dr. Salahuddin stressed. This is why the government along with the people needs to be careful.
Anyone who suffers from common flu should not:
- Shake hands.
- Hug or come in close contact with others.
- They must maintain their space and cover their noses and mouths when coughing.
- It is also important for them to wash their hands, reduce meeting people and clean anything they touch with hand sanitizer.
