Court Reveals Salary Asif Zardari Received as President of Pakistan

• Court has revealed the salary of Asif Ali Zardari he received as the President of Pakistan. 
• Sources have revealed that he received a total of five million rupees.

The Accounts Officer of the Accountant General of Pakistan Revenue, Abdul Rasheed Khan, has presented a presidential salary record of the Former President, Asif Ali Zardari, to the Accountability Court.

The Accountability Judge, Syed Asghar Ali, heard the case against Zardari and the Former Prime Minister, Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani.

During the hearing, the officer informed the court that Zardari’s monthly salary had been PKR 80,000 a month, of which PKR 7,000 was tax-deductible.

Khan added, “Zardari received a total of PKR 5 million, including the President’s Allowance.”

Meanwhile, the third NAB witness in the case, the Former Section Officer Cabinet Division, Muhammad Khalil, also recorded his statement. He dealt with the bulletproof vehicles’ purchasing records during Gilani’s and Nawaz Sharif’s tenures.

The witness presented a summary sent to Gilani on the purchase of High-Risk Security vehicles on the 20th of September 2014, along with the report that had been forwarded by the Cabinet and Finance Division.

Muhammad Khalil added that on the 6th of April 2017, the Finance Secretary, Tariq Bajwa, forwarded a summary to the then Prime Minister’s Secretary, Fawad Hassan Fawad. The report had contained a request for extra funding of PKR 29 million for one vehicle.

The Deputy Prosecutor, Sardar Muzaffar Abbasi, recommended that if defense prosecutors are not available for daily hearings, the court should summon Zardari and Gilani in person and record witnesses’ statements before them.

The court adjourned the hearing until the 23rd of December, 2020 and directed the prosecutor to present five more witnesses at the next hearing.
