[VIDEO] ‘Lockdowns could continue into 2022’ | Bill Gates discusses future of restaurants

He speculated that a real return to normal is possible only after 12 to 18 months "if we manage it well."

  • Bill Gates has said that he suspects the pandemic-related lockdowns could drag on into 2022, with restaurants being closed for the next four to six months.

Gates made his predictions during an interview with CNN.

Despite a Covid-19 vaccine being approved and distributed this week in the US, the Microsoft co-founder, Bill Gates, believes that the world may not be able to return to a pre-pandemic lifestyle until at least 2022.

The Philanthropist said, “By the summer of 2021, the US should be way closer to normal than it is now, but a full return to normal will likely not be possible until after 2022.

The billionaire told CNN on Sunday that “unless we help other countries get rid of the disease and notice high vaccination rates within the US, the risk of reintroduction will be possible.”

He emphasized that wearing masks has practically no downside and “Bars and restaurants in most of the country will be closed, and sadly I think that’s appropriate.”

According to Gates, “Big public gatherings” should continue to be banned to curb the virus rates.

He speculated that a real return to normal is possible only after 12 to 18 months “if we manage it well.”
