This is how COVID-19 crisis enforced HEC to completely revamp its structure
The coronavirus crisis has affected many lives and disrupted all systems and institutions, including educational institutions.
The Higher Education Commission is all set to take necessary steps for the re-engineering of all its services and operations.
The Chairman HEC,Tariq Banuri, has stated that the coronavirus crisis has affected many lives and disrupted all systems and institutions, including educational institutions. However, the forced changes can be harnessed to increase the efficacy and quality of services at the Higher Education Commission (HEC).
“The HEC is committed to using the crisis to automate its structure, simplifying application methods for educational institutions, faculty members, students, and moving towards greater proficiency,” says Banuri.
Re-Engineering of all services and processes
The Chairman instructed all the HEC Divisions to take essential steps for “re-engineering of all the HEC services and processes” as per the current requirements, assuring transparency, clarity, and precision. He emphasized that all the lapses must be identified and addressed in terms of quality in all the HEC operations.
Banuri added, all the divisions had been asked to ensure complete online readiness and access. He advised the departments to take advantage of other HEC programs, especially the Higher Education Management Information System (HEMIS), the National Academy of Higher Education (NAHE), and the Education Testing Council (ETC).
The Statistical Information Unit (SIU) and HEMIS have collected data on faculty members, and are compiling a complete database of students and staff. The ETC has been directed to develop a hybrid system of evaluation and assessment, with more productive use of information technology.
The Chairman expressed satisfaction over the degree attestation system during the lockdown. He also directed the attestation division to make its processes more effective in the future, and save students from the hassle of traveling to the HEC office for attestation
