Craigslist is an American classified advertisement website with sections devoted to jobs, housing, for sale, items wanted, services, community service, gigs, résumés, and discussion forums. The site is famous for people posting unorthodox gigs and hiring individuals to perform them.

One such story of a strange hire has recently gone viral

Maneesh Sethi, the Indian-American founder and CEO of a wearable device company Pavlok, once hired a woman to slap him every time he used Facebook to increase his productivity.

Mr. Sethi went to Craiglist and hired a woman named Kara in 2012 willing to slap him for using Facebook while he should have been working for $8/hour. Every time he diverted from his task, Kara would slap him.

Why did he do this?

Maneesh Sethi hired the woman as an experiment to test how productive the slaps could make him. He wrote a blog about this later, which read:

I hired a girl on Craigslist to slap me in the face every time I used Facebook. The results of my experiment were surprising as my productivity increased rapidly to 98%.

Picture resurfaces and goes viral on the internet

Recently, a photo of Mr. Sethi being slapped by Kara for opening Facebook resurfaced on Twitter and gained the attention of Elon Musk. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX responded to the viral picture with two fire emojis.
