Cricket fans wonder: Where is the blank cheque?
Before the start of the T20 World Cup, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ramiz Raja had announced that a Karachi based businessman offered to give a blank cheque to Pakistan cricket if the Men in Green beat the arch-rivals India in the mega event.
In a meeting with the Senate Standing Committee on Inter-Provincial Coordination (IPC), Ramiz Raja had revealed that an investor told him that he would give a blank cheque to the PCB if Pakistan manage to beat India in the T20 World Cup. “One strong investor told me that a blank cheque is ready for the PCB if Pakistan beats India in the upcoming T20 World Cup,” he had said.
The Men in Green comfortably beat the arch rivals by ten wickets. Ever since then, many cricket fans are wondering: what happened to the blank cheque promised by the businessman?
Following International Cricket Council’s decision to award the hosting rights of the Champions Trophy, the “blank cheque” was again the topic of discussion on Twitter. Cricket writer and Islamabad United’s Strategy Manager, Hassan Cheema, jokingly said: “The Champions Trophy news is just to bury the more important stuff… KIDHAR HAI BLANK CHEQUE??“

Sports athletes in Pakistan are often promised such prizes but unfortunately they never get their hands on it.
